Champoux Vineyard was first planted in sandy loam soil (Warden-Schano-Esquatzel) in 1972. The 175 acre vineyard is set back from the Columbia River five miles in a location along the Gorge where the wind never seems to stop – one of the things that makes this vineyard unique. Champoux can boast four 100 point wines from the Wine Advocate which have been produced with grapes from their vineyard.
